Holy Week, Good Friday and Easter Sunday remind me of the foundation of Christian love. On this blog, I will often refer to goals for Christian living.
Currently, I am studying aspects of the description of Christian love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Yet this may be little more than a list of dos and don’ts unless we begin to consider and meditate God’s love towards us.
Although the world has been created through Jesus Christ it was not too small for him to become like one of us. He became truly human.
He wanted to bless us and to help us. His goal was to bring us back to God. In doing so he was even prepared for the ultimate personal sacrifice.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…” (1 Peter 2:24a/KJV).
This was not the solitary activity of God the Son. No, God the Father full of love himself had purposed to find a way to restore us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16/KJV).
This year on Good Friday and on Easter Sunday, please consider the love of God!
Amen. “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1 John 4:16).
