“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1/KJV).
Similarly as in 1 Corinthians 13: 7 in the verse quoted above we also have both words: faith and hope. In Hebrews 11:1 we can learn something about how they relate to each other:
- Faith makes our hopes substantial.
- Hopes are substantial when based on trusting relationship.
- Religious hopes become substantial, when based on faith in Jesus having carried the punishment for our sins on the cross of Calvary.
- Religious hopes become substantial when we trust God’s word: trust his commandments and his promises!
