This site is approaching its fifth anniversary on December 2nd. I am sharing some special contents.
Today I want to tell you something about how I came to start this weblog. I am giving you some insight behind the scenes.
In January 2015 I had started another blog in German language. So I already had gained some experience in blogging.
In the same year I also volunteered with a Christian radio station in Germany to occasionally write a message on a given bible text. I was asked to cover sixteen verses of the epistle of Jude. The message was to be aired on November 27th.
In the bible we are not given any details, names or locations, of who the Christian believers were Jude was writing to. Yet Jude was concerned because he felt something was going wrong within the church.
However, Jude was not dealing with doctrinal issues. Aspects of Christian living were at the heart of his brief letter.
Finally I managed to hand in a draft, I myself was happy with. Later I had to take one day of to travel to a particular place for the recording.
At last November 27th came and my message was going over the radio station. After that two things I had emphasised stuck to my mind:
- The importance of Christian love versus the pursuit of selfish desires.
- The challenge to do something to promote the Christian faith as laid out in the bible.
Only five days later I somewhat spontaneously inaugurated “Motivation of Christian Love”. – Next week I want to tell you something about the small beginnings of this blog.
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3/KJV)
