“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven … a time to be silent and a time to speak.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1+7b)
More than six months have gone by since I have last published a post on this site. In fact, my mind has been occupied with other things.
I do not now intend to give you details of what caused me to not spend sufficient time keeping up writing weekly posts. Yet I feel this very fact might help us to gain a better understanding of 1 Corinthians 13:8:
“Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease, where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will puss away.”
(New International Version)
Admittedly, I do not know what you think about the term “prophecies”.As a blogger, generally, I do not know much about my readers. Yet I expect you might agree with me that most of the time prophecies will consist of words.
It is not that difficult to think of situations when words do cease. At times we stop speaking. There can be various reasons for that I think that anything that might cause words to cease, can also cause prophecies to quiet down.
But let me tell you, if you are in a church service and there is a time of quietness, this does not mean the service has come to an end. Also in human relationships you might at times spend time sitting together without exchanging words.
